”The answer to every problem is full submission to your own nature.”
If you're reading this…
I'm sure we have one thing in common:
Obsession.
It doesn't matter if you've already found something you'd like to devote your entire life to.
It's a state of mind.
Obsessive minds want to achieve greatness.
They strive for something bigger than themselves because everything seems too superficial.
But the all-or-nothing mindset is also their biggest downfall.
Most end up doing nothing because they can't find their true love immediately.
This question helped me a lot:
What is the thing you can't not do?
Also, go back to your childhood and find what's long-lost.
It might take some experimentation.
Which is going against your spirit, I know.
But you'll never find the beauty of life in routines.
Get out of your head.
Experimenting with new projects or skills has nothing to do with following shiny objects.
The Obsessed Mind
An obsessed mind is almost scary.
You'll be committed to your craft beyond any logic – it consumes you.
Friends and family will think you're crazy.
All of a sudden, you're neglecting anything that's not related to your obsession.
As I said, only a small percentage of people are ready to do this.
Work/Life Balance is important for a lot of people.
I fully understand that.
But If you wish to be the greatest motherfucker in the history of mankind, you have to sacrifice everything.
Sacrifice is the wrong word here.
You need no balance if you're in love with what you're doing.
If work feels like play, there's nothing you have to change.
That's the state I'm striving to be in.
Immersed in a meaningful life, serving my mission.
Only then you'll be able to be the next Steve Jobs or Kobe Bryant.
Romanticize Your Suffering
The morning sprints with an empty stomach.
The empty stares meeting the blinking cursor at 3 AM.
Working while your friends are partying.
This pursuit of excellence will bring you into a dark fucking place.
No help. No understanding. No people.
You'll have to be the lone wolf who is almost starving to death-
Taking 100% of the responsibility.
It's a lot of pain to endure.
But it's your best friend.
When you invert pain, it turns into purpose -
At least for me.
Throughout my teenage years, I was anxious about everything until I studied my fear & did the inner work.
Fear and love are two sides of the same slider.
The more you love, the less fear exists.
So I learned to love my fear and guided my shadow into the light.
And here I am – writing about it.
Every kind of adversity is a catalyst for greatness.
There's no way around it.
So dive into it head first.
And feel the pain in every cell of your body.
Smile through it.
Post-Obsession
Obsession lives through relentless action.
After a shit ton of experimentation, you may arrive – having one core skill.
You're 100% certain you want to do your whole life.
There will be other ventures & skills as well, no doubt.
But you'll see it all through the lens of your obsession.
It's almost like in demon possession movies.
You become the vessel to express the burning fire within you.
Zooming out helps you to see the connection of everything.
I only experienced this on a small scale myself with writing.
But I'm sure it's applicable in a grand scheme as well.
That's why I will keep obsessing over finding my obsession, hahaha!
Obsession is my way of being different.
This is how my personality worked my entire life.
It could be the exact opposite for you.
Think for yourself.
Ohhh and remember to stay present
Yasar
P.S.
It has been 3 weeks since the last letter.
Took me a lot of time to get used to my new home.
But there's no excuse.
The usual quality writing will be back in your inbox.
